Our setting for the retreat

About this retreat:
Situated on the edge of a forest in the hills above Hungary’s Lake Balaton (pictured in the header of this page), our accommodation offers the perfect setting for an extended water fast, with several natural springs in the vicinity, as well as a stream running through the middle of the property. We shall drink water fresh from these springs throughout the duration of the fast.

Optional programs are offered through each day, including:

— Gentle yoga/stretching (twice per day)
— Group discussion: sharing experiences (twice per day)
— Daily walks in nature
— Lectures on fasting and detox
— Meditation
— Support for anyone who is having a hard time 🙂

For anyone interested, there will also be opportunities to practise a sweat lodge, shanka prakshalana (yogic intestinal wash) and dry fasting.

If you are interested in exploring your limits, your fears and addictions, if you want to come to a deeper understanding about who you are, and if you have some prior experience in fasting, then you can learn a lot from this retreat.  I myself have extensive experience with up to 21-day water fasts, as well as 4-day dry fasts (no food, no drink), and would like to pass my own knowledge on to you.

About 7-day water fasts:
Experience with 7-day water fasts is essential for anyone interested in attaining a deep level of cleansing. For most people, an annual 7-day water fast should be enough to maintain health into old age (in combination with a healthy lifestyle). For those with deeper health issues, water fasting can be used as an effective healing modality, and 7-day fasts provide powerful momentum in this direction. (More information here.)

If a 7-day water fast feels too long, you may want to consider our retreat based around a 3-day water fast. (More information here.)

Prerequisites for this retreat:
Prior experience with 36-hour (one-day) water fasts.  Please send me an email if you have any doubts.

To sign up or ask questions:

Payment:
Following application by email (see below), participation is secured through credit card payment, PayPal or bank transfer. Once received, payment is final and non-refundable.
Price includes accommodation (double room with en suite bathroom), participation in all activities during the retreat, organic food to break the fast, VAT and IFA.
If necessary, free transportation (car share) can be provided to Vászoly, which is approximately a two-hour drive from Budapest.

Photos of our location:
We will be staying in a converted mill house on the edge of a forest, with a large garden, several acres of surrounding fields and a stream running through the property:

  1. It’s a truly humanitarian spirit that takes self-enquiry seriously enough in order to be able to then apply that knowledge to the outside world & be of service. A retreat to not eat seemed at first, a first-world absurdity. But here I found a way to really stop, consider, question & understand. Experiencing “being with” my hunger for several days, I learned about what it is that I suppress; what it is that I “feed” when I eat; and how I use food to escape from important feelings which are trying to assist me on the journey home. Well-worth every moment. Thank you 🙏🏽

  2. This was one of the most phenomenal retreats I have ever attended in my life. I actually came from the United States just to attend and couldn’t have made a better decision to spend 8 days out in the beautiful, scenic, and most picturesque location. It was as though I was living a dream (although some of the days were difficult, realistically speaking) and was doing so in very kind company. I’d definitely recommend this retreat to anyone. There is also no better person to lead this than Tallis.
