Dry fast coaching

Why dry fast?

Dr. Tallis Barker Ph.D.

Quite simply, dry fasting is the most powerful form of cleansing and healing known to humankind. In the same way that water fasting represents a quantum leap over any form of juice fasting, so dry fasting also involves a similar increase in strength over water fasting.

In addition to providing unparalleled maintenance cleansing in everyday life, dry fasting can also be used as a modality to heal illness. Although the zero-calorie intake of water fasting allows the body’s immune system to maximize its strength, certain health issues respond best when this is combined with a zero-intake of fluids. Examples include problems involving chronic infection (eg. Herpes, other bacteria/viruses), the growth of pathological tissue (eg. fibroids, cysts, tumors), and any situation in which it is necessary to apply the body’s maximum potential for cleansing and healing.

Because of its raw power, dry fasting is NOT for everybody, and must be approached with respect and caution.

Several articles here on waterfasting.org describe dry fasting in greater detail. A good place to start is with the article ‘Dry fasting: fact and fiction‘. Others recount my own initial experiences with dry fasting, and provide an example of what you might expect if you decide to try dry fast: https://waterfasting.org/category/dry-fasting/. Nowadays, I regularly practise dry fasts of up to five days.

DRY FAST COACHING:

Precisely because dry fasting does require a certain degree of preliminary cleansing, I offer coaching only to (1) previous clients who have either already completed at least a 7-day water fast with me and (2) new clients starting with a 36-hour dry fast.

Compared to water fast coaching, dry fast coaching provides a greater degree of support, focussed around two video calls per day for the duration of the dry fast. This is because the detox symptoms of dry fasting tend to be more intense and develop more quickly. In addition, fewer means are available for treating them, so it’s important to get on top of the situation as soon as possible.

Given the closer supervision required of dry fasting, I do not offer single consultations for dry fasts.

Price of coaching includes:

(1) Preliminary video call (WhatsApp or Skype) before the beginning of the fast (@60 min.)
(2) TWO daily check-in video calls during the dry fast, to discuss how you’re feeling (15-20 min. per day, every day except Sundays).
(3) One daily check-in video call during refeeding and (for longer dry fasts) the preliminary water fast (1-2 days).
(4) Unlimited email or text every day for the full duration of the fast and refeeding period.
(5) Access to my personal phone number in case of emergency.

HOW DOES IT ALL WORK?

Before the fast:
Once you’ve filled out the sign-up form (by clicking one of the buttons on this page), I’ll contact you in order to set up a preliminary video call. Ideally, this should be at least a week before you plan to begin your fast. We’ll talk about how to prepare, as well as discuss any questions you may have (also taking into consideration any relevant medical issues, if any).

For longer dry fasts, I’ll ask you to precede it immediately with a short water fast: 1 day of water before a 4-day dry fast and 2 days of water before a 5-day dry fast. This will help the dry fast to proceed more smoothly.

During the fast:
Once you actually begin your dry fast, we’ll stay in contact via twice-daily video calls in which you can let me know how you’re doing, and I can offer suggestions to any problems you may be having: anything from detox symptoms to sleep problems to cravings for food. I can almost guarantee that you will experience discomfort of some kind, thanks to the sheer power of the dry fast. However, it’s important to recognise that discomfort does not equal danger!

As someone who regularly practises dry fasting, I’ve experienced all these issues, and can help guide you through your own detox symptoms.

After the fast:
Given that dry fasts can’t extend as long as water fasts, the refeeding period tends to be relatively straightforward – so long as you do it right! Given the dehydration which takes place, it’s extremely important to follow a simple but strict procedure. I’ll be with you the whole way through this process, until both of us are confident that you’re back on course to your everyday diet.

  1. Hello Tallis,
half a year ago, i got very serious with dry fasting. In september 2022 I completed a 7-day soft dry fast. From that fast on I maintained doing a 2 or 3-day dry fast every week. Diet is 100% “clean”. Im fasting to cure deliberate eczema, psoriasis (skin and nails) and probably fungal issues. I have seen great improvement in my overall health, but im not quiet where I want to be. Currently I’m on day 2 of a (hopefully) 9-day dry fast to get to the root of the problem. I just wanted to know if any of your clients got results with dry fasting? Especially in the case of nail-psoriasis.
    Kind regards,
    Sebastian

      Hi Sebastian,
Thanks for writing. That’s great you’ve dived so deep into dry fasting! Usually, when I work with clients on dry fasting, it’s within the overall context of an extended water fast. So no, I haven’t had any clients even try to heal from psoriasis using dry fasting alone. Based on my own experience, though, I think you’ll find that you WILL see results in time. It’s just a question of how soon your body turns to the issues you mention. That may take place (hopefully) on this dry fast. If not, then you should take the long view and persevere. Perhaps it will be next time, or the time afterwards. When it comes to chronic health issues, it’s usually a marathon and not a sprint, and the mindset which applies to a marathon is most beneficial!
      All the best,
      Tallis
